  1. FB EcoSolutions CAADS installation at a farm in Tillamook, OR

  2. FB EcoSolutions “If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change” The Leopard (movie based on the novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa)

  3. FB EcoSolutions • Integrated farming • Electricity/Gas production • Australian Integrated Farming Model • Eco-soil • Dairies or Other Bio-waste? • Environment & regulatory authorities • Business & financial model 3

  4. Electricity/Gas Production • Small, medium, large installations • Nearly all VOC conversion to methane • Substantial carbon converted to energy • Deliver to pipeline or electricity generator • Gas - methane • Electrical energy • Thermal energy 4

  5. Australian Integrated Farming Model 5

  6. Eco-soil • Billions of bugs in a cup (soil “goodies”) • >95% VOC conversion, so needs no post-digester composting • Peat moss substitute • Study of >250 clays identified a few that act as catalysts in the soil to allow a plant to utilize “things” in the soil • AADS only removes carbon: “goodies” remain in the eco-soil so each growth/harvest cycle gets closer and closer to being “fully loaded”. 6

  7. Dairies or Other Bio-waste? • What can we accomplish for the region? • 200 dairies (200 to 20,000 cows, i.e. 6 ktpy to 6 mtpy manure each) • 2,000,000 tpy of bio-waste • The process is the same • Depending on inputs ~ 160 MW. Each bio-stream is different. • Rich eco-soil, clean water, air 7

  8. Benefits of one-stop regualtory shop • Renewable energy can be key element of the solution • EPA/DEQ • Disposal facilities permit • Land use compatibility statement • Solid waste permit • Water quality permit • Air quality permit • CAFO permit- Dept Agriculture • Other permits 8

  9. Environment • Water contamination • Pathogens (e.g. harm shellfish) • Excess salts from intensive agriculture (location dependent) • Air (particulates, VOCs, methane) • Unprocessed solid wastes 9

  10. Business Model • Australian public Co – FBE partnership • Design, build, own, operate (DBOO) model • Farmers focus on what they do well and… • FBE builds, manages and services facilities that produce renewable energy, eco-soil • FBE frees the farmer of any extra burden. 10

  11. Project Finance • Finance, not technology is the ABSOLUTE key to renewable energy deployment: Oregon leads the way • Debt finance - not there. IT IS NEEDED • Equity: Australian public Co. (Computronics) • Debt/equity: 60/40 to 80/20 11

  12. Discussion California can lead not follow! Thank you! 12
