Shadows. Shadows occur when light shines on an object and the light does not pass through. (opaque objects). As Earth rotates sunlight shines on an object from different angles. The length and position of the object’s shadow changes through out the day depending on the position of the sun.

  2. Shadows occur when light shines on an object and the light does not pass through. (opaque objects)

  3. As Earth rotates sunlight shines on an object from different angles

  4. The length and position of the object’s shadow changes through out the day depending on the position of the sun

  5. The shadow is on the opposite side of the light source

  6. The Earth rotates from west to east, so shadows move the opposite, east to west

  7. Shadows start out long in the morning, growing shorter , at noon shadows are shortest, afternoon shadows again grow longer and longer

  8. Remember1. Shadows are caused by the Earth’s rotation.2. They change throughout the day because of the angle of the sun.3. The Earth rotates from west to east, so shadow move opposite from east to west.
