  3. Program Venue: Children’s Library Complex 4- Shahra-e-Aiwan-e-Tijarat (Near Bagh-e-Jinnah) November 25th & 26th, 2011

Introduction to CLF • First ever Literature Festival for Children to be held at National Level • Aims to promote reading , creative writing and critical thinking amongst children • Effort to lure children in to experiencing the joy of reading for pleasure • An effort to introduce young authors to children’s literature • Special attention will be given at this forum for the promotion of mother tongue teaching

  5. Event Timings: 9 30 am to 5 30 pm (on both days) • A Festival Open-to-ALL & Free of cost • Children can come in groups with their schools or can with their families • Parallel strands of various sessions will be going on at the festival

Program Activities • Reading sessions, featuring famous writers and their works • Creative writing sessions with well known creative writers • A session on poetry reading and writing poems • Introduction to writing book reviews • Sessions where children talk about and review works they love • Young Women’s Narratives - Pakistan & India - Ankur & SAFED • Writing competitions for different age groups • A story writing session • Book fair • Discussion among representative participants from all provinces on mother tongue teaching and valuing diversity • Young speakers’ Corner – BOL KEY LAB AZAD HAIN TEREY- managed by young authors and poets

CLF’s Happenings Contd… • Books stalls by various publishers and organizations • Book Signing by favorite authors • Stalls on authors reading their own books to children • Meeting with your favorite celebrities • Various competitions • Food stalls • Special Programs & Celebrations during Opening & Closing sessions • 12 feet long cartoon characters walking by • Fun activities – face painting; arts and Craft making .. Throughout .. Doll & Puppet Making.. Mime and more

Celebrities/Authors & Educationists attending CLF • National & International guests from UK & India will participate • Nationally: Publishers & Authors; Fatima SurraiyaBajia, Prof. Anita Ghulam Ali, AarfaSyedaZehra, AlifLaila Book Bus Society, Salima Hashmi, Adeel Hashmi, Navid Shahzad, Nadia Jamil, NigarNazar, Zahra Mumtaz, Zubaida Mustafa, Fehmida Riaz, Raza Rumi, BasaratKazim, Mohsin Hamid, RomanaHussain, SheemaKirmani, Sania Saeed, Muhammad Haneef, NimraBucha, Tariq Rahman, QasimKasuri and many school systems .. • AdeelHashmi, Dr. ArfaZehra, Nadia Jamil and SaniaSaeed are Ambassadors of CLF to participate in pre festival book readings .. And promotion (early November) • From India we have representatives from Pratham, Katha, ANKUR and celebrities such as Derick O’Brien

Pre-Festival Activities • Young Ambassadors will promote reading by going to schools, talking about their favorite stories and will invite children to attend CLF • Children will be doing creative writing and illustrations prior to the festival, best ones will be awarded at the CLF • Children can send their entries via post, CLF’s website www.childrensliteraturefestival.org or CLF’s Facebook page

  12. Publishers & Food Stalls at CLC • Bookstalls & FoodStalls being booked at a modest cost • Rs. 30,000 for two days at CLC • First come first serve basis • Invitations to all will be sent on October 15, 2011 • Stalls by NGO Partners – FOSI (letters sent out)
