Overview of Version Control Systems and Git

Version Control Systems (VCS) track file changes over time to aid in reverting to specific versions. There are three types: Local VCS, Centralized VCS, and Distributed VCS. Git, a widely used VCS, offers distributed architecture, performance, security, and flexibility. It was developed by Linus Torvalds in 2005 and is favored by both commercial and open-source projects due to its robust features.
