  1. TheThreatsofMobileMalware Withmobilephonesbecominganintegralpartofourdailylifeandwithmanyshiftingfromdesktops tomobiledevicesastheirmainwayofcomputing, cybercriminalsarefollowingalong. Unfortunately, thethreatsposedbymobilemalwareareevolvingandbecomingmoresophisticatedthanever, makingthemoneoftherisingcyberthreatsatthistime.Cybercriminalsareinconstantsearchof sensitivedata, andwhensuchdataisdetectedonadevice, theywilltrytheirbesttogainaccess throughthedevice’ssecurityflaws. Unfortunately, manydonoteducatethemselvesabouttherisksof havingunsecuremobiledevicesresultinginbeingtheperfecttargetsforthesecriminals. Therehave beenmultiplevulnerabilitiesandattacksmadeonmobiledevicecompaniessuchas, Appleand Android, whichopenedtheeyesofsometohowtheyputtheirfulltrustintothesecompanieswhenat anymomenttheirsystemscouldbecompromised. 3MainMobileMalwarethreats: Mobilemalwareisamaliciousmalwarethatspecificallytargetsmobilephones, smartwatches, and tabletoperatingsystemswiththegoaltostealprivatedata. ThisMalwareisconstantlyadapting andevolvingtogainaccesstomobiledevices. – Trojan’s: ATrojanisacomputerprogramthatis meanttodisruptorstealpersonaldatasuchastextmessagesorbrowsinghistorywhilestaying unnoticed. ATrojanfirstportraysasifitisalegitimateapplicationorfilethenittriestotrickyouinto downloadingthemalwareonyourdevice. And, withmanypeoplerelyingontheirmobilesfortheir financialsforinstance, thisledcriminalstousetrojanstostealinformation, thesetrojansareknownas Bankingtrojans. In2020, McAfeeMobilesecurityhasdiscoveredthatBankingTrojanactivity increasedby141%, andthenumbercontinuestorisein2021 (McAfeeMobileThreatReport2021).

  2. Adware: orsometimesknownasMadware, MobileAdware, isatypeofsoftwaredesignedtodisplay intrusiveadvertisementsonauser’sscreenwithouttheirpermission. Itgenerallygetsontoaphoneby installingascriptorsoftware, anditoftenhappenswithouttheuser’sknowledge. Mosttypesof adwarearedesignedtocollectpersonaldatafromyourphonewithspywaretospamyouwithads. Thisprivatedatavariesfrompasswordstoyourlocationandevenyourcontactlist. Adwareis difficulttoremoveasitwasdesignedtoinstallitselfunnoticed. Ithasbeenthemostprevalentthreat toAndroidsmartphonesthisyear, accountingfor45% ofallattacks. Thismalwareposesathreatnot onlytoyoubutalsotoanyoneonyourcontactlist.
