Recognizing drainage and erosion as significant issues, the initiative aims to address local concerns through community involvement and partnerships with state ministries and local government councils. The goal is to create a cleaner, safer environment that enhances economic activities, benefiting the city's population of over 2 million.

Enugu owes its origin and development to coal mining in 1915. It is the melting pot for the eastern states – politically, culturally and administratively. Population: over 2 million. With growth rate of 3%. Key economic activities: Coal mining, agriculture, trading and tourism . The community was encouraged on the environmental issue identified by them as their major problem in that community. Adjoining streets copied and paved their gutters and clean environment achieved.
