  3. History • Settled by German farmers dating back to the mid 19th century. • Population grew, thanks to Chicago's rapid transit line (removed in 1951). • Eisenhower Interstate System led to construction of two nearby expressways

  4. Today • Nearly all open land within Westchester is currently being occupied. • Wolf Road Prairie (85-acre), located at the intersection of Wolf and 31st, is currently the largest black-soil prairie east of the Mississippi River

  5. Demographics • 66.1% White • 15.8% African American • 13% Hispanic • 3.8% Asian • 0.7% Duel Race • 0.5% Other
