  4. Why Continue OSHA’s Mission • Every year more than 4,500Workers die from workplace injuries. • Perhaps as many as 50,000workers die from illnesses in which workplace exposures were a contributing factor. • Nearly 4 Millionworkers suffer a serious nonfatal injury or illness annually.

  5. Construction Focus Four The leading hazards that cause90%of the injuries and deaths. The leading hazards are: • Falls,(e.g., floors, platforms, roofs) • Struck by, (e.g., falling objects, vehicles) • Caught in/between, (e.g., cave-ins, unguarded machinery, equipment) • Electrical,(e.g., overhead power lines, power tools and cords, outlets, temporary wiring)
