  3. PROJECT OBJECTIVES GOAL Tocreate a catalogueofoptimumconfigurationsofexhaust gas cleaningsystemsfor different typesof HFO diesel enginestofulfillthe IMO 3 criterias. Other mainfocusses: • Costofequipment • Availability of parts • Costofequipment in action • Costofservice • Repairingsituationand spare parts • Place in ship EUROPEAN PROJECT SEMESTER

PROJECT OBJECTIVES EXHAUST GAS CLEANING SYSTEM An effectiveandadvancedexhaustsystemmust: 1.- Toreducenoiselevelbybetween 40% and 90% throughtheinsertionofsilencers end/orsilencer-separators; 2.- Tocool theexhaust, andejecttheenginecoolingwaterthroughtheexhaustwithoutexcessive back pressure; 3.- Tositetheoutletsatthesternoftheboattominimiseexhaustfumeson board; 4.- Tominimize, bytheinsertionof an adeguatecapacitysilencer, theriskofwaterrunning back uptheexhaustandintotheenginecylinders, causingseriousenginedamages.   7. PROJECT OBJECTIVES SYSTEM PARTS SCRUBBER To cleantheexhaust gas with stream water, capturingchemicallythesulphur oxides. CATALYTIC CONVERTER To reduce the toxicity of emissions from an internal combustion engine by chemical reaction- oxidation reduction. BOILER To obtain boiled water by heating water or other fluid in a closed vessel. 4. EXHAUST GAS SILENCER To reduce the sound level with the absorption principle for high frequences or reflection principle for low frequences. FUNNEL Toremove smoke and exhaust gasup in the air to disturb nobody and to not foul the decks and ship structures. EUROPEAN PROJECT SEMESTER
