  1. The family is the primary institution upon which God depends for the transmission of faith and values.

  2. Deuteronomy 6:1-7These are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them .. . that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you,

  3. you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged ... that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—"a land flowing with milk and honey.". . .

  4. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

  5. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

  6. Resurrect the Family AlterWe need to resurrect family alters if we want to keep families from falling apart.

  7. Prayer Goals for Couples Beyond praying for one another and for the needs of family and home, a couple might do the following: • Pray daily. • Pray for unsaved family members and friends, work associates, and neighbors.

  8. Designate at least one day a week or month to pray for your pastor and other spiritual leaders. • Pray regularly for some ministry of the church. • Adopt at least one missionary for prayer. • Adopt an unreached people group. • Adopt a para-church ministry for prayer.

  9. Pray for political leaders. • Create a couples prayer triad with two other couples. • Pray for others, particularly for the kingdom purposes of God.

  10. Praying With and For Your Kids Praying With Your Kids • Praise God for His Creation. • Point out answers to prayer and celebrate them with your children. • Bless your children. • Teach your children about the armor of God (Eph. 6:10-18).
