  4. ¿Cómoestás? • ¿Cómoestás? = How are you? • Estoybien, gracias. = I am well, thanks. • Estoymuybien, gracias. = I am very well, thanks. • Así, así = so-so • Mal = bad • Muy mal = very bad • ¿Y tú? = And you?

  5. Adiós = Bye • Adiós = Goodbye • Hasta pronto. = See you soon. • Hastamañana. = See you tomorrow. • Hastaluego. = See you then/later. • Mucho gusto = Nice to meet you. • Chao = Bye

  6. Nombre = Name • There are two ways to ask someone what their name is: • ¿Cómote llamas? = What is your name? • ¿Cuálestunombre? = What is your name? • There are also two responses: • Me llamo _______. = My name is ________. • Mi nombrees ______. = My name is ________.

  7. Age = Edad • How old are you? = ¿Cuántosañostienes? • I am ____ years old. = Tengo _____ años.

  8. Cultura (Culture) • In many Spanish-speaking countries people often greet each other with a hand shake and/or a light kiss on the cheek.

  9. Being polite  La cortesía • Gracias = Thank you • Por favor = Please • De nada = You’re welcome
