  9. New Features in the DS 11 Ver 4

  10. What is the BreezeNET DS 11 ver 4 • A new generation of the existing DS 11 Ver 3 • Includes both hardware and software changes Main areas of improvement in Ver 4 (compared to Ver 3): • Security • Performance • Ease of installation and Maintenance

  11. Router BU RBs Ver 4 – Added Security Features • MAC Address Association Control (BU feature) • A list of MAC addresses in the BU that are allowed to be associated with it (Default: all) • WEP Key Length of 64 or 128 (both for BU and RB) • 128 bit key allows for better security • 64 bit key allows communication with remotes that have 64 bits WEP only (Default: 64) • Unicast Relaying and Broadcast Relaying (BU only) • Control of Broadcast and Unicast relaying • When enabled, the BU will transmit back into the sector messages from RBs in the sector that are destined to RBs in the same sector (default: Enable). • ESSID “ANY” option control (BU feature) • A BU feature to allow/Disallow association with units that use “ANY” for the ESSID (Default: disable) • Proprietary scrambling of data (both for BU and RB) • Extra security measure, proprietary to DS11 (Default: disable) • Independent of the WEP

  12. 10111001010011 01011101010010101010101010 Proprietary Scrambling of Data 128 bits WEP key (802.11b) Disable “Any” ESSID and Relay Traffic Control MAC Address Association Control DSSS (802.11b) Multi Layer Security Platform A Protective Wall

  13. Ver 4 – Performance Enhancing Features • Preamble length (both for BU and RB) • Selection between “Long” or “Short” Preamble • Increase throughput in “Short Preamble” • Use it always unless you must support “Long Preamble only” units (Default: Long) • “Best BU” and “Preferred BU” (RB feature) • Best BU: scan the area and choose the BU with the best RSSI (Default: enable) • Preferred BU: associate only with the BU that is marked as the preferred one (Default: None). Maximum net data rate of the DS 11 Ver 4 is 6.2 Mbps

  14. Ver 4 – Performance Enhancement (cont.) • Automatic dissociation of RB (BU feature) • While BU is disconnected from the Ethernet dissociate all RBs and do not associate any RB • Used to obtain BU redundancy • Ethernet Backoff Control (both for BU and RB) • On detecting a collision a station will wait a locally determined period of time before attempting re-transmission • The “disable” option is useful in PTP to increase Ethernet efficiency due to low collision probability - no need to wait after collision (Default: Disable) • Reject/Forward Unknown (both for BU and RB) • Reject /Forward frames whose destination addresses are not recognized by the bridge – More efficient Air interface (Default: Forward) RB1 BU2 RB2 x RB3 BU1 RB4 BU RB Detecting Collisions?

  15. Ver 4 – Easy Installation and Maintenance • Automatic Configuration Single Button Configuration of Common Modes: • PTP Mode CW=15, RTS threshold=2437 • PTMP Mode CW=63, RTS threshold=2437 in BU and 60 in RB • Compatibility mode Rate=2Mbps, Short Preamble=disable, Scrambling=disable • High Performance Mode Rate=11Mbps, Short Preamble=Enable (in BU only)

  16. Ver 1 Ver 2 Easy Software Upgrade • One click upgrade of multiple units firmware • Always keeps (last) SW version in flash memory • Automatic fallback to previous version when required • Progress indicator bar • Acknowledgment from every unit • Flash Memory contains two last versions (both for BU and RB). Current and last versions are kept in memory allowing regression to previous version.

  17. Ease of Installation and Management Installation • Easily manageable CAT-5 Input/Output cable • 110/220 universal power supply • RSSI Led Bar for antenna alignment • Extensive LED diagnostics in both indoor and outdoor units • “Back to Factory Default” Reset button Management • User friendly Configuration Utility • Remote management using SNMP • A range of counters for diagnostics • Per link statistics in the BU

  18. Compatibility • Backward compatibility • The DS 11 Ver 4 units are backward compatible with the Ver 3 product • When Ver 3 and Ver 4 units are mixed in one location only Ver 3 features are supported • Upgrade ability • DS 11 Ver 4 includes hardware changes and therefore a Software Upgrade is not applicable Ver 4 Backward Compatible ….. Ver 3

  19. DS 11 Ver 4 – Product Variation The following variations were prepared:

  20. Conclusion
