We blend social action, learning, and prayer—offering engaging, inclusive services with live music and personal expression. Our community fosters a supportive environment for diverse backgrounds, promoting vibrant celebrations like Bnei Mitzvah and innovative Israeli holiday services. Beit Tefilah Israeli Who are we? • An emerging independent congregation in Tel Aviv founded by secular Israelis coming from various backgrounds and lifestyles. • Why? • We feel the need to build a community through Jewish prayer and • ritual which speak to us in content and form. • We strive to form a social and spiritual setting in which our Jewish • and Israeli identities meet.
Beit Tefilah Israeli What do we do? Prayer Learning Social Action. In the language of the Mishnah: Torah, Avodah, Gemilut Hasaddim
Beit Tefilah Israeli Tefilah (Prayer) We allow ourselves the freedom to experiment and experience. Our Tefilah services are creative, inclusive and egalitarian. We play live music and we encourage self expression and dialogue during the service. We hold services on: Friday nights (Kabbalat Shabbat) Shabbat morning (Shacharit) Saturday night (Havdallah) Holidays (including Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) We host Bnei Mitzvah events We develop new Israeli holiday services such as a Havdallah ceremony between Yom Hazikaron and Yom Haatzmaut.
Beit Tefilah Israeli Learning We created our own Community Beit Midrash to complement Tefilah and encourage social action. Our Beit Midrash promotes the forming of a community language to enrich our identity and grow closer as a group. Social Action Reaching out to members in need Educating ourselves about the social and economic needs in the city Meeting individuals and groups that are overlooked in Israeli society
Beit Tefilah Israeli As of May 2006: • BTI reached out to over 350 family units who have been involved in our activities in various levels of participation • An average of 90 -100 people attend Kabbalat Shabbat services • BTI developed a weekly online newsletter that combines information about our activities with content of awareness and inspiration
Beit Tefilah Israeli As of May 2006: • Over 65 community events will take place throughout 2006. • Over 50 active members initiate, lead and run activities at BTI • Close to 40 family units have paid membership dues. • 3Bnei Mitzvah boys and girls have celebrated their event at BTI
Beit Tefilah Israeli As of May 2006: • BTI has formed a unique partnership with young emerging musicians that have become part of the community • BTI has created a tradition of innovation by establishing out local language of prayer, our format of services and our children's’ minyan • BTI is a member in network of young Israeli communities that cooperate on organizing spiritual and cultural events Jewish pluralistic events. • BTI is a legally recognized Non Profit Organization run by a board of 9 directors
