Hives • An outbreak of swollen pale red bumps or plagues • Cause itching or stinging • Show up on the face, lips, tongue, chest, throat, or ears. • Can join together and make larger areas
Hives cont. • Can last from a few hours to up to one day • Produced by histamine from cells • Histamine fluids leak from blood vessels leading to swelling in the skin • Some hives are caused by allergies to foods
