Prohibition The Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution, the Prohibition outlawed the sale, transportation, import and export of all liquor through out the United States and all territories under the jurisdiction of the federal government. If any beer or moonshine was found it was reported, then dumped into the sewers..
  3. Prohibition in Washington Prohibition took effect in Washington State in 1916. The women protested throughout the nation for liquor to be banned. On December 31, 1932, medicinal liquor became available in Seattle. - And for some time drug stores became more and more popular and more of them popped into business. Alcohol was banned for about 15 years until it was finally allowed again.

Reasons for the Prohibition The National prohibition of alcohol (1920-33) was created to… Stop Corruption, Get ride of crime, Solve social problems, Reduce extra tax created by prisons, Improve health and hygiene in America. The results of the Prohibition clearly show that it was a miserable failure on all counts.

  6. Who was evolved? William Bomoss and Mike Sovtsovi, owners of the Magnolia Bar, were arrested and charged for illegally selling liquor. This is the first reported arrest in Seattle after Prohibition starts. Roy Olmstead - He began as a police officer, learning about the business of illegal liquor while making arrests. After his own arrest, he turned to bootlegging full time, eventually becoming one of the largest employers in Puget Sound.
  7. When did it start and end? In Washington State the prohibition of the manufacture and selling of liquor began on January 1, 1916. Prohibition ended nationally and in Washington State in 1933.
