  1. PIZZARO By Kai Payne

  2. Pizarro’s Early Life Francisco Pizarro was born around 1476 in Trujillo, Spain. He grew up without learning how to read. Instead he herded his father’s pigs. Pizarro was a conquistador. Conquistador-A Spanish word for conqueror.

  3. Pizarro’s curiosity to explore • Reports of Peru’s riches and Cortes’s success in Mexico tantalized Pizarro and he undertook two expeditions to conquer the Incan Empire in 1524 and in 1526.

  4. Against the Odds • Based on sheer numbers alone, Pizarro’s military victory was one of the most improbable in recorded history. For example, Pizarro had fewer soldiers than George Armstrong Custer did at the battle of little Big Horn, while the Incas commanded forty times as many soldiers as Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull did.

  5. What Pizarro was known for • Though Pizarro is well known in Peru for being the leader behind the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire , a growing number of Peruvians regard him negatively. Pizarro ruled Peru for almost a decade and initiated the decline of Inca culture.
