Il Dipartimento non svolge, di norma, un ruolo di direzione gerarchica sulle unità operative periferiche ma, assume compiti di orientamento, consulenza e supervisione per lo svolgimento della funzione alla quale è preposto. All’interno dell’Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale e dell’Azienda Ospedaliera sono ipotizzabili diversi tipi di dipartimenti: Dipartimenti “per funzione” Dipartimenti “a struttura” Dipartimenti “d’organo” Dipartimenti “a progetto”
