  7. Simple Background Information • Pre-literate societies were very close to the environment that surrounded them. • Since the use of plants was so frequent, names were given to classify them. • Examples: Shaman or Brujo of American Tropics.

  8. Methods of Division • Describe plant so that others could recognize it. • Classify it as harmful or useful • Identify other individual plants that could be put in this division • Give a name that it could easily be referred to.
