Quick Notes • Region: Africa • Type: guerrilla war, decolonization(independence) • Time: 1954-1962 • Involved: FLN and nationalist groups, French Gov’t, European colonists and eventually Charles deGaulle • Casualties: about 250,000 died (Algerians), about 2 million refugees • Effects: Algerian Independence and destruction of France’s Fourth Republic
