  2. PURPOSE

  3. Traffic jams are a national problem. Time wasted in traffic jams affects drivers and is a huge loss to the economy, in the billions of Sheqels.

  4. Traffic jams always result in the waste of costly gasoline, and increases air pollution and risk of accidents.

  5. Traffic jams are a thing familiar to us all – from little to big, there is almost no man woman or child in the world that has not come to know, and hate, traffic jams.

  6. Traffic jams are one of the worst problems that affect the transit system today – not only that, it affects people emotionally throughout the day. This is why we are interested in analyzing and possibly, hopefully, being able to predict at least part of them.

  7. The gadget will extremely help us to understand when driving will be horrible and therefore save precious time by avoiding the traffic jam.

  8. SCOPE

  9. The goal of this gadget is to create a user friendly platform to inform the client easily and quickly of the current ,past and even future situation in ayalon highway. Also, saving the search parameters will save time from configuring the search each time. This way, as it happens most of the time, the user gets to have a real assertion of the traffic conditions, spending only a few seconds of his time.

  10. Additional features: • Downloading full information of a certain time period. • Receiving feedback from users. • Storing a track (for people who drive the road on a daily basis).

  12. Data will be collected by polling the traffic reports in the offical site of ayalon highway : http://www.ayalonhw.co.il/

  13. A sophisticated server will be especially constructed to poll information from the site:

Server • Maintaining a database of the average speed in ayalon highway. • The data will be polled and saved every 5 min. • An archive containing the last few months will be available to users. • A special program will try to predict the traffic jams by using the huge collection of the past information according to date, day , hour , minutes , and even holidays. • Will receive a feedback from users, not only in order to check our calculations but also to improve them!

  15. Client • Receives the driving speed according to his given search parameters. • Provides a feedback to the server after driving in the road.
