  2. Goals • Develop a prototype CPDB portal by the end of 2011 • Include information from OBS and DRA contributions, and PUB 5 CPDB Portal

  3. Method • Build on existing structures • Add only new components (the portal) • Avoid building complex systems that do everything • Build a modular system instead • Make data readily available • Highly consultative rapid development & implementation CPDB Portal

  4. Portal Document Search JCOMM contacts DB CIMO RadarDB SMM Questionnaire Vol A CBS DB PUB5 Database RBSN / RBCN / Anton System Webservice

  5. Capabilities • Lists information from selected databases on a WMO Member basis • Databases can also be browsed directly • Selected information can be updated in the portal • Information can come from internal and external databases • Information from different DBs can be combined • Currently supports: PUB5,Vol A, CBS, CIMO, Weather Radar, SMM, VCP, FELLMAN CPDB Portal

  6. Feedback • Access to information / authentification • Information you would like to see • Use cases for portal usage • Which info on WMO Websites, which one in the portal? CPDB Portal

  7. Feedback from participants Prototype available as of Jan 2012, operational version sometime after EC 64, 2012. Information should be consistent and accurate as possible. Fix country code discrepancies in PUB5, eg., BCT. Add Regional info at some stage (eg., Regional Climate centres such as ACMAD, link websites) Start with publicly available data for prototype, and establish procedure for adding new sources to basic structure. Possible restricted sections. Add financial figures at some level. CPDB Portal

  8. Feedback from participants Show the information on regional/national development projects. Show the results of surveys. Cautions to progress in an orderly fashion. Make online prototype portal available to WMO Members at large for review. Distinguish between info that goes into the portal and info that portal can be linked to. CPDB Portal

  9. Outlook Main scope of the portal is to provide information from key databases, but • Portal can be used to let WMO Members manage information online • The data centralisation done for the portal makes it possible to use the data elsewhere (M&E) CPDB Portal

  10. Action! • Will now demonstrate the portal • Feel free to have a closer look yourself at http://www.wmo-sat.info/~wisuser/cpdb/ CPDB Portal
