Clifton Marsh Landfill Site - Background • Location: • 6 km West of Preston Centre, County of Lancashire, Northwest England • Current Capacity: • 2.1 Million m3 • Current Planning Consent: • Lancashire County Council has Granted Consent to Continue Operations until 31st December 2015 • Landfill Disposal Phasing: • 4 Phases • 1, 2 and 3 Full and Capped • Phase 4 Receiving Waste Disposals • Landfill Disposal Capability: • General, Asbestos in a Separate Monocell and Radioactive Waste • Hazardous Waste Transfer Station • Radioactive Waste Disposals: • The Landfill has received Radioactive Waste for disposal since 1986 from Springfields Fuels Ltd, Sellafield Ltd (Capenhurst Site) and URENCO UK Ltd at Capenhurst Site under their Respective RSA 93 Authorisation

Clifton Marsh Landfill Site - Future • Continue General Waste Disposals • Continue Asbestos Disposals • Continue Hazardous Waste Transfer Service • Continue Electricity Generation (upto 4 MW / Yr) • Continue Radioactive Waste Disposals from Springfields Fuels Ltd, Sellafield Ltd (Capenhurst Site) and URENCO UK Ltd at Capenhurst Site • Secure EPR (due May 2012) to Enable a Wider Customer Based Disposal Service Capability to UK Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Industries • Apply for an Extension to the Current Planning Consent (Demand Driven)

Clifton Marsh Landfill Site - Capability • Part of VLLW Disposal Service Framework with LLWR • VLLW Disposal Service Contract Secured with LLWR (but Willing to Contract Directly with 3rdParties also) • Capability to Receive an Extensive Range of Radionuclides • Receipt and Disposal of Radioactive Waste upto an Average Activity of 200 Bq/g within a 10te Load • Maximum Activity Within a Consignment is 1000 Bq/g • If Strontium 90 is Present Within a Consignment then Limited to an Average Activity of 100 Bq/g within a 10te Load • Waste Receipt in Approved Bags, Drums, ISO Containers and Loose (Subject to a Prior Pre-Assessment) • Draft Permit Available for Viewing at Exhibition Stand
