  9. What is Static Electricity?

  10. Static electricity is stationary electrical charges

  11. Give three examples of how to charge an object.

  12. 1. Charging by induction 2. Charging by friction 3. Charging by conduction

  13. What is charging by friction?

  14. Charging by friction is when you rub two materials together and one has a stronger hold on electrons than the other, thereby charging the two objects

  15. What are conductor’s and insulator’s?

  16. A conductor is a material that allows electrons to move easily through it. An insulator is a material that does not allow electrons to move easily through it.

  17. What happens when a neutral object comes into contact with a charged object?

  18. A transfer of charges takes place and the neutral object becomes charged.

  19. What two types of properties are there?

  20. Qualitative and Quantitative

  21. What is the difference between a Chemical property and a physical property?

  22. Chemical changes are changes that cannot be undone and involve a chemical reaction. i.e.. Color, smell, energy produced Physical changes are changes that can be undone. i.e.. Change of state, shape, size

  23. What type of change is this? An egg is placed in boiling water until it becomes a hard-boiled egg.

  24. It is a chemical change because it cannot be undone

  25. If two, clear, solutions are mixed with each other, and a solid is formed at the bottom of the container, what type of change is this?

  26. Chemical change because in order for a solid to be formed, a chemical reaction must take place.

  27. If a book was ripped in half and then placed in a fire, what type(s) of changes would have happened

  28. Both chemical and physical changes. The book being ripped is an example of a physical change and the burning is a chemical change

  29. How many planets are in our solar system?

  30. Only 8 (remember, Pluto is not a planet)

  31. What is a Heliocentric solar system?

  32. It is a solar system where the sun is the centre (planets orbit around sun)

  33. What is a Geocentric solar system?

  34. It is a solar system where the earth is the centre (planets orbit around earth)

  35. What is a comet?

  36. A comet is a large block of ice orbiting around a celestial body.

  37. What does a Herzsprung-Russel diagram show? (HR diagram)

  38. It shows the organization of stars organizing them by brightness and temperature

  39. What is a food chain?

  40. A sequence of animals showing the transfer of energy.

  41. What is a food web?

  42. A food web is a representation of feeding relationships within a community.

  43. What percent of energy is transferred through each tropic level?

  44. 10%

  45. Out of the following, which is a primary consumer: Lion, Wolf, Deer, Grass

  46. Deer

  47. Where does ever food web start?

  48. With the sun

  49. Give two ways that Carbon enters the atmosphere

  50. 1. Combustion of fuels 2. Respiration 3. Diffusion
