  3. Mission Statement: To promote and support affordable housing in Johnson County. Vision Statement: Decent, safe, affordable housing for all in Johnson County.

  5. Resources Local Funding $55,000

  6. Accomplishments • FY12: $365,800 awarded • 5 homeowner households • 43 renter households • 8 projects funded • 4 new construction • 3 rehabilitation • 1 acquisition/rehabilitation

  7. Accomplishments • Total HTFJC Revolving Loan Fund Awards To-date exceed $2.4 million • To-date, HTFJC awards have funded • 85 households at <30% AMI • 86 households at <80% AMI

  14. Accomplishments • 2012: A year of closing out • Tenant Based Rental Assistance Grant • United Way Priorities Grant • Single Family New Construction – Iowa City • Single Family New Construction – ECICOG

Accomplishments • Closed out the Tenant Based Rental Assistance Grant • In collaboration with the Iowa City Housing Authority • $ 35,009 assistance paid out in FY12 • Since start of program: • $243,360 assistance paid in total • 99 households assisted in Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty

  16. Accomplishments • Federal Home Loan Bank Program • $49, 523 paid in FY12 • 9 households assisted in FY12 • 2– Solon • 3 – Lone Tree • 2 – North Liberty • 1 – Hills • 1 – rural Iowa City

  17. Accomplishments • Made first payments on Women Build III microloan • Interest: $1,002.08 • Principal: $4,080.00 • Total Payment: $5,082.08 2011 IVHH Women Build III Home 2012

Accomplishments • Increased awareness within the community, Johnson County, and the state • Increased social media presence: Facebook & Twitter • Attended Lobby Day at the State Capitol • Participated in Chamber Leadership Program • Spoke as a panelist at the 2011 Housing Summit in Ames • Initiated an update and redesign of HTFJC brochure

  19. Accomplishments • More active role in Local Homeless Coordinating Board • Began duties for HFfLC & ECIHTF • Active participation on Livable Community Housing Action Team • Developed County Mobile Home Repair Program

  20. Accomplishments • Creation of new part-time staff position: • Operations Coordinator • 15-20 hours a week • Assists the Executive Director • Manages daily operations of HTFJC • Acquisition of second office • Executive Director and Operations Coordinator have separate office spaces

  21. Accomplishments • Implemented new income-verification process for all new and existing projects • Clearly defined our expectations for income verification • Will follow up annually to verify affordability • Developed a system for improved response to future IFA monitoring

  22. Dedicated annual state funding allocation Need for expansion of sources of local funding More state mandates without funding increase Public misunderstandings of “affordable housing” and apathy (hostility) toward solutions Need for HTFJC to be more recognized/known locally Challenges

Opportunities • Strong advocates at the state level. • Strong support at the local level. • Additional contracts enable HTFJC to increase funding available for housing projects. • Continued funding allows us to demonstrate benefits of having a trust fund. • Expanded role on committees increases awareness of HTFJC in community

  24. Plans for the future • Continue to collaborate with local organizations, lenders, builders, and realtors • Continue to promote HTFJC to public through programs and media • Increase active advocacy at local level for affordable housing policy matters

  25. Plans for the future • Attend local government and organization meetings throughout Johnson County • Create a marketing plan/public awareness campaign for 2013 • Pursue all grant / contract opportunities that further HTFJC mission • Establish endowment fund
