Day One: Friday, November 14, 2014 • Quiet Question: Type Two Prompt---Using your notes from the last lesson on Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran, you and your partner going to complete the Islamic Republic of Iran Web. • In the six initial boxes, you are to select and write in SIX different aspects from Iran’s history that you THINK ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT to understanding Iran today. • Then in the three off-shooting blocks from those six main ones, write in details about those specific aspects. • Think about your audience: the American public so they can understand the current issues revolving around Iran. • Six Different Aspects Possibilities: • Colonialism in Iran---Actions of the West • Shah’s Rule • Opposition to Shah • Ayatollah Khomeini • Islamic Revolution • Theocracy • Iranian Hostage Crisis • Iran-Iraq War • Iran through 2013 • Current Iran and Nuclear Capabilities

Transition to Afghanistan. • Class: The teacher is going to do part of the PowerPoint Lecture on Islamic Fundamentalism in Afghanistan. You are to take notes in the provided graphic organizer. Topics not covered in the lecture will be covered in the film. • ****The class notes from the lecture and film will be done in either PENCIL, BLACK OR BLUE PEN. • Topics Covered in Lecture: • Role of Cold War in Afghanistan • Al-Qaeda Connections • Homework:You are to read and take notes from the photocopied supplemental reading from BBC News on Afghanistan. You will have two nights to complete this. • ****The reading notes will be done in either RED, ORANGE, PINK, OR PURPLE PEN. This is to distinguish the reading content from the lecture and film content.

This is to distinguish the reading content from the lecture and film content. • Night Two: Monday, November 17, 2014 • Read and take note from pages 6-8 in the appropriate graphic organizer categories. • The reading notes will be done in either RED, ORANGE, PINK, OR PURPLE PEN. This is to distinguish the reading content from the lecture and film content.

Day Two: Monday, November 17, 2014 • Class: We are going to be watching from You Tube the “National Geographic Inside the Taliban” Documentary. • It was published on May 16, 2012. • It has a running time of 1:31: 39. • As we watch the documentary, you should be adding to the PowerPoint notes in the graphic organizer. • Homework: By the first day of the Modern Iraq Lesson Plan, your notes need to be completed. We will be using them for the follow-up Collins Prompt.
