  6. The Second Decree of ArtaxerxesDaniel 9:25 ‘the decree’ of Artaxerxes’ is described in Ezra 7: 13 ‘to restore and build up Jerusalem’ not only the Temple and walls (Nehemiah) but to establish self governance and a judicial system.

Walker uses: • NASA astronomical data to confirm the dates of Passover and shows the crucifixion must have been in AD 33, even to the day, • April 3rd(Julian calendar) April Ist(Gregorian calendar). • true Jewish 365.242 day lunar-solar years not the 360 day Babylonian year. • He challenges • Anderson’s classical interpretation which used Artaxerxes first decree in 445 BC as the starting point and asserts the decree was Artaxerxessecond decreemade in 458 BC. • Anderson’s & Hoehner’s calculations which • mixed Julian and Gregorian calendars.

  8. Anderson’s Miscalculations He used the wrong kind of year 360 day years (Babylonian time) not Hebrew solar-lunar years of average 365.24 days. The Jewish year uses the agricultural cycle and the phases of the moon for feast dates. (334/355 days with an extra 30 days every 3 years or so. (The 360 day year was only used in times of judgement e.g. The Flood and Tribulation) The Starting point (the Decree): wrong day March 14th, not March 15th wrong month for Nisan not March but April wrong year 445 BC not 458 BC of the divine decree: the ‘dabar.’ The End (the Crucifixion): wrong day for PASSOVER April 6th, not April 1st wrong year 32 AD not 33AD.

  10. Gabriel imparts His Message to Daniel "Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the message and understand the vision.’ (Daniel 9: 22-23)

The Mystery of the ‘ Seventy Sevens’ "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.’ (Daniel 9:25-26)

  12. Which Decree? 4 possible Decrees are mentioned in the Bible Cyrus in 537 BC (Ezra 1:2-4) – rebuilding of the Temple and restoration of worship, but not the city of Jerusalem. (Recorded on the Cyrus Cylinder in British Museum) Darius in 518 BC (Ezra 6:1-3) – re-issuing of Cyrus’ decree to rebuild the Temple, not Jerusalem. * Artaxerxes in his 7th year 458 BC (Ezra 7:12-26) a ‘dabar’ or ‘ divine decree’ to Ezra to rebuild and restore true government in Jerusalem, not just the Temple. THIS FITS Daniel 9 EXACTLY ! Artaxerxes in his 20th year 445 BC (Nehemiah 2) to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

  13. ‘Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, a teacher of the Law of the God of heaven: Greetings. Now I decree that any of the Israelites in my kingdom, including priests and Levites, who wish to go to Jerusalem with you, may go. You are sent by the king and his seven advisers to inquire about Judah and Jerusalem with regard to the Law of your God, which is in your hand.’ (Ezra 7:12-14) Artaxerxes Decree 458 BC to rebuild Jerusalem

Artaxerxes Decree 458 BC (Ezra 7)to govern Jerusalem ‘And you, Ezra, in accordance with the wisdom of your God, which you possess, appoint magistrates and judges to administer justiceto all the people of Trans-Euphrates--all who know the laws of your God. And you are to teach any who do not know them’. (verse 25)

  15. Jesus’ death on the cross fulfilled this prophecy exactly to the day! Daniel 9:26a ‘ After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One (Christ) will be cut off and will have nothing’.

The Key to understanding God’s time line is the 70 years in captivity(Jeremiah 25:11, 29:10) Daniel would have this on his mind as he knew the 70 years in Babylon was coming to an end and was interceding for the Israelites to return to Israel. God works in units of 70 multiplied by periods of restoration Sabbatical (7 years) and Jubilee (49 years)

  26. The Re-run of the Seventieth Week The first 70 week period is 26-33 AD where Christ is presented, but rejected by the Jews. This results in the gospel gong to the Gentiles and the Church Age of 2,000 years before a re-run of the 70th weekwhen God reveals himself to the Jews during the Tribulation. This is followed by Christ’s Second Coming to bring judgement on the nations before the Millennial reign of Christ.

  39. Armageddon(Revelation 16:16-21) After the 6th trumpet, a huge Chinese and Eastern army invades Israel and a third of the 200,000,000 are killed. (Rev. 9:14-16) A massive earthquake destroys Babylon in the 7th final bowl judgement.
