Vocabulary • Narrative- text that tells a story • Organizational structure- how a narrative is put • Together • Characters: the main people or animals of a story • Setting: where the story takes place • Plot: the events of the story • The problem/situation: gives the purpose of the story • Solution: the answer to the problem

  6. The Importance of Understanding the structural organization of imaginative narratives To become better writer you have to understand to different styles of writing. In a few months you will be taking the writing performance , so you will need to know how to organize your writing

Steps for organizing an imaginative narrative • Step 1: Read the prompt • Step 2: Create a tree map • Step 3: Determine the characters and setting • Step 4: Identify the problem or situation • Step 5: Identify three attempts to solve the problem that fail • Step 6: Identify an attempt to solve the problem that works
