  3. Lifetime ewe processRams We shear rams in December for March joining We check all rams for 5T’s Teeth, Tossel, Toes, Testicles and Torso We vaccinate 3 – 4 times a year We feed lentil / barley mix up to joining Young rams may be on Lucerne as well

Lifetime ewe ProcessMaiden ewes December we weigh and draft all hoggets <42kgs, 42.5 – 45kgs & 45kgs + Target joining wt (March)45 kgs + 75 – 80 % 0f mature weight To hit target joining wt we feed; Below 42kgs 3 – 4 kgs of lupin/ lentils & barley mix 42.5 – 45kgs 2 – 3 kgs of same mix 45.5 kgs 1 – 2 kgsof mix

Lifetime ewe processMature ewes - Joining Condition score all mature ewes in January Take off light ewes &feed as required Condition score ewes early March pre joining All ewes fed pre joining & thru joining Join for 5 – 6 weeks Condition score ewes mid April after rams come out Draft off light ewes &feed accordingly

Lifetime ewe process Pregnancy Scan all ewes Twins, Singles and Dry's Manage twins to Maintain CS3 + Singles Maintained CS2.7 - CS3 Dry's – sell double dry's, remainder run as wethers Must condition score after scanning to; Identify light ewes &look after twins & singles separately (This will make or break your lambing %)
  7. Lifetime ewe process Lactation Lamb down twins on best pasture, good cover & not west facing slopes Singles in open paddocks No feeding during lambing (if required feed in afternoon) We check lambing ewes daily Mark lambs at 6 – 7 weeks
  8. Lifetime ewe processWeaning Wean at 12 – 13 weeks Make sure all ewes are on good pasture to return to CS3 + We make the most of green feed while available
  9. Lifetime ewe process Weaned lambs We wean onto green feed We grain train Our wether weaners go onto Lucerne prior to sale 16 – 20 weeks. (Dec – Jan)

The things that will make a difference Worm / Parasite control Avoidwest facing slopes Lambing mob size Keep twins/ singles separate If feeding, feed late in afternoon Don't chase ewes that need assistance thru mobs Come back later, ewe will generally be on her own Check ewes from a distance Control foxes, Baiting
  11. Economic Value Targeted feed allocation based on; CS Preg status We had a small increase in stocking rate Big increase in number of twins & over all lambing % Increased supplementary feed Weather is no longer a major factor
  12. The Numbers 18 000 ewes increased to 20 000 Lambing %; 81% - 91% 3yr avge (81 - 107%) Ewe mortality from 4.5% - 2.3% Supplementary feed; 15kgs - 32 kgs
