  1. Student Name Teacher Name English 11 Period # Date • In the future I want to design roller coasters. • The OCIS interest profiler gave me a score of 10 for the realistic category. This category includes mechanical and civil engineering. • Roller Coaster engineering and design interests me a lot and is certainly something I want to carry out.

  2. Before one can become a mechanical Engineer they must complete two exams and attend a four year college term. Also they must have four years of training in the field. • If one wants to enter the field of Mechanical Engineering they must have a high school diploma and a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (preparations). • After someone completes a four year program at an approved engineering college they must pass an exam. Then after four more years of training in the field they must complete a second exam (preparations).

  3. Before one can become a mechanical Engineer who specializes in roller coaster design, they must go through an immense amount of preparations and attend a four year college. • It is great to take all the math, engineering, and science classes you can in high school to prepare yourself in college (preparation). • Mechanical Engineering is a good major in college for Roller Coaster design. Courses such as statics, dynamics, calculus, cad, machine design, and mechanics of materials are great to take. Also it is good to take computer programming classes (preparations).

  4. Mechanical Engineering requires a good college foundation. Ohio State has a very decent rating as an engineering college, also it is close to home where I want to be. • Ohio State University offers many courses for Mechanical Engineering (college). • Ohio State University is number 29 out of 100 of the best Mechanical Engineering schools in the United States (college).

  5. If one wants to enter the field of Mechanical Engineering they must be curious and detail-oriented. Also they must have a mindset to be creative and have sturdy investigative skills (personality). • The Keirsey Test told me that I am an artisan. Artisans are creative with detail and want to make a splash (personality). • Because I was so determined to contact someone for my interview, the actual interviewee told me I had one important trait of a rollercoaster designer, to be persistent (personality). My Keirsey test told me that I am an artisan. Artisans use details and want to make an impression just what mechanical engineering requires. My interviewee told me already I have one of the main qualities it takes to achieve this career, persistency.

  6. The OCIS interest profiler gave me a score of 10 for the realistic category. This category includes mechanical and civil engineering (skills and abilities). • The Occupation Matcher on OCIS told me I could be an Architect or an Interior designer (skills and abilities). Both of the careers listed from the OCIS occupation matcher include the same aspects that a Roller Coaster designer has. Also the OCIS interest profiler gave me a 10 in the realistic category which is good because this includes mechanical and civil engineering.

  7. The only time when the job is overwhelming is during the install of the coaster, but is exciting because it is when the finished product is finally pulled together (job lifestyle). • The hours working as a coaster designer are not to bad, unless a deadline is needed to be met (job lifestyle). The fact that hours are usually normal is great news to me because in my American Dream I severely want to include my family.

  8. Mechanical Engineers can achieve many outstanding attractions such as Roller coasters that can reach up to 120 miles per hour in just three seconds. This may be nothing compared to what may be possible in the future (job rewards). • Roller coaster design is a rewarding process and allows one to feel great when people wait just to ride their rides (job rewards). • In Ohio the median yearly average wage of Mechanical Engineering is $67,660. If one works harder and gets on the upper end they can expect to make $84,140 a year (job rewards). The whole reason I began interested in roller coasters was because I started riding them and having a satisfied feeling myself. If I can make others feel the same way than I can leave my job everyday feeling great. Along with this satisfying feeling I will be receiving a very satisfying above average check.

  9. With very little positions as a coaster designer, one may have to work hard in order to achieve this goal (availability). • I don’t want to move away from home, there are available roller coaster firms in Ohio that have accomplished great tasks (location). I have at least a little closure in the scarcity of the job in the fact that I have a location to work close to home.
