  1. ESS – current status • Hardware 12 Readout Units – assembled and delivered in March 2006 (support only point-to-point communication with PLC; supports 4 SMs) 12 Interlock Units – completely assembled tomorrow (and tested by the beginning of next week) Supported areas: 1) H4 & H2 2) Build.867 (new Interlock Unit installed) • PLC Software New version of software is being developed (multipoint protocol; support for 36 EB SMs + 8 EE quadrants)

ESS - plans • Multipoint protocol for ESS ready by 01.11.2006. • Complete ESS PLC and PIC software (RC1) ready (hopefully) by mid November 2006. • Installation of 3 RU in 867 and 3 RU in H4&H2 (testing/debugging continuously) in November 2006. • Installation of the rest of hardware (6 RU + 9 IU)in Service/Experimental hall (mounting, cabling, mapping, checking etc.) in November/December • Configuration of ESS PLC as a complete redudant system during 2007.

  4. ESS – other issues • ESS PLC modules needed for the final system: DI modules: 2 (already have 2), DO modules: 6 (already have 2), Other modules: already have enough + 1 spare for each module.
