  2. Origin • The origin of the Red Angus breed is in Scotland.

  3. Imported • Red Angus were recorded being imported in 1873 from Scotland.

  4. British, Continental, or Man-Made? • They are a Continental breed, which means they were imported from another country.

  5. Characteristics • Red Angus have all of the characteristics of Black Angus. The cows are hardy, and grow quickly and are naturally polled(no horns).

  6. Use of Breed • This breed is now most popular in countries like Australia, and is famous for its beef.

  7. Advantages • Heat tolerance and the ability to cross with other red breeds without introducing the dominant black color.

  8. Disadvantages • They’re very nervous which makes them harder to work with, and genetically small in size.
