  3. Beagles History Beagles are called Mary Little Hounds with big hearts. Beagle is a French word meaning small.

  4. What They Are Like Beagles are hounds that use their noses to hunt. They are friendly and get along with other pets.

  5. Beagles Size There are two varieties of Beagles. Those who measure 13 inches or under in height and those who measure 13 to 15 inches in height.

  6. Puppies An average Beagle can have up to six puppies. The dog is pregnant for about 9 weeks. When she is ready to give birth, she prefers a dark place away from noises.

  7. Care Beagles make happy members of any family.

  8. Things They Need A dog needs a quiet place to sleep. A soft dog bed in a quiet corner is the best place for a Beagle to sleep.

  9. Cool Fact About Dogs Dogs and wolves are close cousins. Dogs have been living with humans for 12,000 years.
