  2. What is a DENOMINATION? • This means different sub-groups within one main group.

  3. What does this mean? • This means that there are many different types of Christians, but they all belong to the main religion called Christianity.

  4. All Christians: • A.) Believe in one god • B.) Follow the teachings of Jesus Christ • C.) Their holy book is called the bible

  5. This is a list of some of the different denominations: • Roman Catholics • Methodists • Presbyterian • Catholic • Church of England • Baptist

  6. Roman Catholics • This is the largest Christian Church in the world. • The Pope at the Vatican is the head. • Bishops are said to be successors of the apostles. (Jesus’ disciples) • Catholics seek forgiveness of sins. (confession)

  7. Church of England • Called the established church • Modern in their views; allow women as leaders. • The Supreme Governor is the head of the church.

  8. Methodists • They study the bible in an orderly way. • They believe in repentance. • They have been known to have lively and enthusiastic ways of worship. • Founded by John Wesley.

  9. Baptists • Only allow adults, not babies • Have adult baptism • Have no chain of command, but instead have leaders called preachers • ADD THIS AT THE BOTTOM: • There are more than 41 million members of the Baptist church.
