Brief History of Linköpings Universitet 1120 – 1230 Linköpings Cathedral (Domkyrkan) 1843Teachers College established in Linköping 1902 Fröbe linstitutet, Norrköping, Sweden’s first Education of pre-school teachers 1963 Master’s Degree Education in technical subjects 1965 Parliament Decision to establish a full Institute of Technology in Linköping 1967 Branch of Stockholm's Universitet, the basis of what would become a Philosophical Faculty, which would include the Humanities, the Social Sciences and Natural Sciences 1970 Linköpings Institute of Technology (LiTH) established 1975 Linköpings Universitet (LiU) 1977 Teachers’ College transferred to LiU 1986 Medical School developes a radical new teaching method for medical students, Problem Based Learning 1995The 1000th Doctoral Degree (Ph. D.) granted 1996 Campus Norrköping added 2000 Centrum for Wood Technology & Design (Stockholm) added to LiU
