  1. Amar Bose Better sound through research.

  2. As a child… Amar Gopal Bose was raised in Philadelphia after emigrating from Calcutta, India. He became interested in technology at the age of 13, when he started repairing model trains, to supplement his family’s income.

  3. Massachusetts Institute of Technology Bose graduated from MIT with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering in the early 1950’s. He then went on to be a professor of engineering at MIT.

  4. Looking for a better sound After looking for good speakers for a long time, he became disappointed. He then decided to research psychoacoustics (human perception of sound) to try and come up with the best speaker on the market.

  5. Beginning of Bose The “Bose Corporation” was started by Amar Bose in 1964. He developed the 901 Direct/Reflecting speaker system in 1968.

  6. Bose and NASA Bose got his first contracts with NASA and the U.S. Government improving audio communications.

  7. Top of the line Today, Bose’s headphones are dominating the market. Amar Gopal Bose is in the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
