  1. Holland 2011 Benjamin Voss & Simon Hansen

  2. Arrival 11. april Westayed at a B&B for 6 weeks. Wepaid for rent and food. But wealsogotbothfood and access to a washingmachine. Our”Landlady” wasverynice and alwayshappy. Shewas a real granny type, who felt sorryifwe did not finish all ourfood.

  3. The school(IDCollege, Gouda) • It wastotally cool to be at the college. The students werevery open and wereinterested in talking to usand wewereeveninvited to a barbeque. The teacherswerealsofantastic and wevisited a one of the teacher’shometwice. • In Holland it is normal to go to schooltwodays a week and thenwork at the apprenticeshipthreedays a week. Different from the Danish model. For us it wasquiteexciting to trythat system. • The school is fairly small and thatmeansthateverybodyknowseverybody and thatthere is a niceatmosphere. All students werevery open and positive and they made an effort and showedinitiativetowardsus.

  4. BMW, Gouda • Me, Benjamin, I was so lucky to get the pleasure of working at the BMW workshop. In addition to the factthere the place i crowded with reallynicecars ( lowtaxonly 19 per cent) it wasreally a pleasure to work at thisgarage in Holland. It seems to methatthere is anotherway of dealing with apprentices. Here theyareveryseriousabouthowyoutreatapprentices, thatthey have t o learn and so youget to workonly with cars and not do otherthingslikecleaning, movingthingsaround and so on. • A typicalday at the BMW workshop was all aboutcustomersercive and quality and professional work as a mechanic. The skilledmechanicswereverygood and professional, so I learned a lot from beingthere. • In addition, I had a worksopmangerwho did his utmost to makemystayworthwhile and enjoyalble. I hope for othersthattheycanget to try to work at the BMW workshop.

  5. Toyota og D&D, Gouda Toyota Me , Simon, I had the pleasure of working for 3 weeks at Toyota and 3 weeks at an independant garage named D&D. The firstthreeweekswere at Toyota and I had never been at such a bigplacebefore, so I waslooking forward to the weeksthere. The firstfewdays I had to get to knowthings and all the peoplethere and seehowthingsworked, so it was not so busy for me. But after the firsttwodays I wasallowed to works as much as I wanted and I foundthatquiteimpressive. The atmosphere at the workshop wasactuallyquitequiet, but the peopletherewereverynice to me and good to work with.

  6. Toyota og D&D, Gouda D&D Me, Simon, I alsogot the pleasure of working3 weeks at D&D. I had heardthat D&D wasverydifferent from Toyota, where I had been for 3 weeks. And it wasverydifferent, but in a positive way. The ownerswere Arie and Arwin and Roy whowas a mechanicthere. I liked it thereverymuch. We did not have so muchwork all the time, so every time a carcame in, I got the job and was told to takemy time with it, so I couldlearn. Whenwe had finished the jobs, Arie had an old truchthatwecouldwork on. I had 3 verygoodweeksthere.

  7. Differences and Similarities There differences compared to Denmark. If you go to Holland, generally it is cheaper to go shopping. But houses and flatsare more expensive. The incomeseems to belowerthan in Denmark. The work is more or less the same. But thereare differences form workshop to workshop, like in Denmark. It is different with the school.forskel. You go to school and workeveryweek. uge. The school is very small and so thereforethere is a verypersonalatmospherebetweenteachers and students. Many Dutch peoplearegood at speaking English, but wealsothinkthatmany Danish people speak English, so that is much the same. Wealsothingthat most Dutch peoplearenice and friendly. We have not had any problems in the 6 weeks. So all in all wecanconcludethatwe have had a great trip!

  8. GoingHme • Saturday morning wegot up and went to Pauline in the kithcen to get the last breakfastthere. We had packed most of ourthings the daybefore, so weonly had to get the things in the car and wewereready to go to Denmark. Wesaidgoodbye to Pauline and thanked her for the 6 weeks. At this point wecouldfeelthatwewerelooking forward to go back home. On the wayhome in the carwetalkedabout all the thingswe had beendoing og howgreateverything had beenog howgreat it wasthatyoucanactually go abroadlikethisand work and go to school. Weagreedthatthis had been a great trip and experience!
