HOW TO INTRODUCE YOUR BABY TO SOLIDS

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), you can introduce solid foods to your child between the ages of 4 and 6 months, but the timing actually depends on your child. While some infants may be content to wait for longer, others could be eager to begin eating. The best approach to determine if your baby is prepared for feeding is to watch for indicators of readiness. 1. HOW TO INTRODUCE YOUR BABY TO SOLIDS The introduction of solid foods is one of the most joyful (and messy) developmental stages of a baby's first year. Take into account all of the flavours and textures your child will encounter, such as savoury cheddar, luscious mango, and creamy avocado. The introduction of solid particles is the first step in discovering and exploring a wide range of flavours. ●Whatever suits both of you, is the "ideal" moment to feed your baby. While your breast milk output is at its minimum, if you are nursing, you may want to try solid foods. Beginning with one meal each day and work your way up to two. ●While those initial feedings may be difficult for you, your child will likely find them more difficult. So remember that a happy and aware baby is much more likely to reach wide for an approaching spoon.

  2. ●Do not hurry. You'll be astonished at how long it requires to get one tiny mouthful into that little mouth when this comes to newborns and food. Ensure that you and your infant have enough time to eat. ●Sit elegantly. It's a surefire formula for catastrophe to try and insert an unfamiliar item into an unresponsive mouth while holding a wriggling baby on your lap. Allow your infant to practice using the booster seat or eating seat for a few days before letting them eat their first bite, adjusting the tray or seat's height as necessary. ●Expect rejection. For a rookie solid eater, even bland tastes can be acquired. Before they determine they enjoy a new food, they may reject it several times or more. Therefore, if the baby refuses just what the spoon is offering, do not press. But do give it another shot. ●Encourage emulation. It's a tried-and-true parenting trick: spread your mouth wide and pretend to eat from the spoon. To learn more, visit https://childventures.ca/ or call us at 905.332.7539.
