  2. PHILIPPIANS 2:5-6 • Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: • Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

  3. PHILIPPIANS 2:7-8 • But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: • And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

  4. HEBREWS 5:7-8 • Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

  11. Obedience: Is a form of social influence where an individual acts in response to a direct order from another individual, who is usually an authority figure. It is assumed that without such an order the person would not have acted in this way.

  12. Obedience occurs when you are told to do something (authority), whereas conformity happens through social pressure (the norms of the majority).

  13. The Act of Obeying

  14. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY • So we find that Abraham, in obedience, left his home, left his land, and separated from everything, all his earthly position, possessions, to travel in a strange land, sojourning. A type of the Church. We're asked to forsake everything that's in this world, in order to follow Christ.

  15. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY • Now, we find Abraham following on, year after year. And he took some portion with him, which was his father, and he died right away. And then he took his nephew, which was Lot, and Lot separated himself from argument sake, and went down to live in Sodom, yet he was a part of Abraham.

  16. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY And God gave the land and all that was in the land, to Abraham, he heired all of it. God said, "Look east, west, north, and south, and all of it belongs to you and to your seed after you. All yours!"

  17. 62-0506 POSSESSING.ALL.THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY_ • Now, one day Abraham had it kind of rough, and Lot having it easy, wading in sin. How easy it is and how pleasing sin looks to be, and how innocent it looks to be. Now, if Lot says this, "As long as I believe! I believe in God, so why can't I go down here in Sodom, and it'll be all right. I'm a believer." But it wasn't all right.

  18. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY • See, God, when He called Abraham, He called him to separate himself from everything. And that's what we have to do. God calls us to a total separation from sin, "Come out from among it, be not partakers of it!" Shun it, the very appearance of evil. Separation completely annihilated from it! Stay your distance away from it. Don't tread upon its grounds, no matter how nice it looks.

  19. 62-0506 POSSESSING.ALL.THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY • You people, you might think here now, here it is, "Brother Branham, I sometimes I'm tempted to steal, or sometimes I'm tempted to smoke." Or sometimes the women think, "I'm tempted to dress like the people of the world, you know, the immoral clothes and things. I'm tempted," the young ladies.

  20. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY Now, you think that's tempting, what about over here where you've got every little move to watch, you see, in a ministry. What a greater thing it is over here, and what they'd have to answer more for.

  21. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY Because, you have to answer for your own souls, but we have to answer for everybody we speak to. Where you'd say, you: "Isn't that a pretty little dress? It's all wrong to wear, but isn't it beautiful? It'd fit me just right”. . . . Now, that, you know that's wrong.

  22. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY But in a minister it's, "You should go to this meeting here, this is just it. They say it's so great, the congregation." And yet you've got to wait and hear God say "go," see. "Oh, would you go over here and see this person here? This is such-and-such." And you got to watch, be careful. See? Oh, it's so sly. And now we have to watch those things.

  23. 62-0506 POSSESSING ALL THINGS_ JEFFERSONVILLE.IN V-10 N-4 SUNDAY • Now, Abraham had to watch, too. But he, instead of going down into Sodom with Lot, he separated himself and went up into the desert, took the way with the Lord's despised few. That should be our attitude. Take the way with God's people regardless whether it's hard or easy, go anyhow. Be ready to go at anytime, now, wherever He might call you.

  24. 62-1230E IS THIS THE SIGN OF THE END SIR JEFFERSONVILLE IN SUNDAY • God is strange, to us, because His ways are past finding out. He wants obedience."Where You going?" "That's none of your business. Just keep going." "Where You want me to do, Lord?" • "That's nothing to you. Follow, thou, Me." "Just keep So, here I walking.” "Where will I stop?" "What's that to you? Just keep walking." Go, in theNameof Jesus Christ.

  25. 61-0212M JEHOVAH JIREH LONG BEACH CA. SUNDAY E-30 So He said, "I'm going to take Abraham because I know he believes Me. And I done told him I'd make him a father of nations. He waited twenty-five years until now he's about a hundred and forty-five years old, or a hundred and twelve years old," somewhere like that. "Now, I'm going to tell him to take this little boy that he's waited on, and take him up and kill him. Abraham will obey Me."

  26. 61-0212M JEHOVAH JIREH LONG BEACH CA. SUNDAY E-31 . . . Now, look, from civilization, he's three days back. And then he lifted up his eyes and saw the mountain far off, where the Lord showed him. Now, watch where he went. Now, then when he gets close there, he stops the little mules, and tied them up, took the wood and put it on Isaac's shoulder. . . So beautiful. He said, "You wait here with the mules. The lad and I will go yonder to worship, and we shall return”.

  27. 61-0212M JEHOVAH JIREH LONG BEACH CA. SUNDAY E-38 . . . There went the two together on up the mountain. Finally he come to a place; he rolled the rocks together, laid the wood in order. And watch little Isaac, obedient to death like Christ was.

  28. 61-0212M JEHOVAH JIREH LONG BEACH CA. SUNDAY Pull his hands around behind him, tied them, tied his feet, and he laid this little boy upon there, his only begotten son, the seed that was to be the promise one, laid him upon the altar, stroked his little hair back out of his face, a pretty little boy... What's mother going to say when you get home and tell that you had to kill that son? But God will provide, long as you're obeying His Word.

  29. 61-0212M JEHOVAH JIREH LONG BEACH CA. SUNDAY E-39 Throwed his little head back like that, reached down in his bosom, took the knife out of its sheath, and raised it up like that, pulled his hair back like that, and in his heart choking, swallowing it back, as if to say, "Farewell, Isaac, my boy." Raised his hand and about that time, in full obedience, even if you're doing something wrong and walking in obedience, the Holy Ghost is there to stop you.

  30. 61-0212M JEHOVAH JIREH LONG BEACH CA. SUNDAY You say, "I'm afraid if I ever receive the Holy Ghost, I might act indecently." Don't you worry, if it's the Holy Ghost, He will know when to stop you, and when to start you; He's got the button in His hand. You see? So He knows when to turn on and turn off. Just throw yourself at His mercy.

  31. CONCERNING CHILDREN

  32. One of the most problematic words in America’s post-1960s parenting language is “Cooperate.” “I want my children toCooperate,” most parents say, complaining that their children won’t do what they “Ask”them to do. That’s another problematic word, Ask. Those two problematic words go hand- in-hand.

  33. Parents who want Cooperation tend to ask as opposed to tell. Asking is nice. Telling Isn’t. And today’s parents are trying to be nice. Their children have no appreciation for their niceness; they simply take full advantage of it. I tell the mother that the reason her children don’t obey her is because she wants cooperation. That only takes place in a peer-to-peer relationship. Neighbors cooperate, Friends cooperate, Spouses cooperate. Co-workers cooperate.

  34. But the CEO of a company, when he tells two cooperating coworkers what he wants, he’s not looking for cooperation. He wants them to obey. Two Army privates assigned to the same task will cooperate. But the officer who assigned them is not looking for their cooperation. He expects them to obey.

  35. The fact that so many parents talk in terms of wanting their children to “cooperate” reflects two things: A. 1stthese parents do not feel comfortable with authority. They are trying to avoid being seen by their children as authority figures. They use persuasive speech as opposed to authoritative speech. Example: Will you please hang your jacket up in the closet, Okay?

  36. 2ndthey want to be liked by their kids. So when they speak to their children and ask them quote “cooperate” Okay? They look like they are asking the king for a favor. In effect, the superior in the relationship is the child.

  37. During the 1960s – 1970s the education system injected this theory into parenting, and it lives on, even unto this day. It is taught that if you want a child to cooperate, the best way is to have a close relationship so the child will want to cooperate with you.

  38. Maybe between co-workers, neighbors, spouses, and Army privates it does, but not between General and Private, CEO and employee, or Parent and child. Parents should expect nothing less than “Obedience” and reflect the expectation in their body language (relaxed, not threatening) and speech, (straightforward, brief, and lacking “okay?). Parents who expect less then obedience will get less than obedience.

  39. Why should children obey? Because it’s in their best interest, that’s why. This is about the welfare of the children, not the parents. The best research into the outcomes finds, and conclusively so, that the more obedient the child, the happier the child. But then, one doesn’t need research to know that.

  40. 61-0210 ABRAHAM'S COVENANT CONFIRMED LONG BEACH CA. FRIDAY E-23 Brother, the Scripture's all here; let's just obey it. That's all."As many as I love, I rebuke." That's this age, is that right? So and then the Bible said also in Hebrews the 12th chapter and the 8th verse, "And if they cannot stand, and won't take rebuking, they are illegitimate and not sons of God.”

  41. 61-0210 ABRAHAM'S COVENANT CONFIRMED LONG BEACH CA. FRIDAY That's exactly. But a real child of God will take his correction, saying, "Yes, Father, it's Your Word; I've got to straighten up now; I've got to do what's right." You know that's truth, isn't it? A illegitimate is the one that always backs off and the fly in the soup, to just kind of upset something. But the real child of God admires to be rebuked and straightened up.

  42. AS THE MUSCIANS COME

  43. 61-0210 ABRAHAM'S COVENANT CONFIRMED LONG BEACH CA. FRIDAY I know my old father never whipped me one time but what I bless every lick he hit me to make me what... If it wouldn't have been for that, why, I'd probably been a renegade myself. That's what's the matter with too many little Rickys and so forth today. You let them run out here, and throw round, and stomp their foot, and little Mary, "I just won't do that." She ought to had my mother.

  44. 61-0210 ABRAHAM'S COVENANT CONFIRMED LONG BEACH CA. FRIDAY That's right. Yes, sir. We got too much now of just letting the kids... No wonder we got juvenile delinquency. You know what caused it? Parent delinquency. That's what started it. Yes, sir. You didn't keep your children around you. Let them out in these places and carrying on like that, and endorsing it. No wonder we're in such a age as we are now.

  45. I’m not up here to rebuke you, that’s not my intent to the believer’s. I am offering to you Godly advice in the Spirit of Love, if you can receive it. If you truly Love what the Lord has revealed unto you in this Day, apply it to your Life, to your Family, to your Home. Be Obedient. God placed a Representative for you in this Third Testament. Respect the Leadership, and Teach your Children to do the same.
