  4. MAIN Classroom Rules 1.Cell phones OFF and not visible in the classroom. 2. Bookbags off the table and laps 3. Raise hand to speak. Wait to be called ON. 4. Earphones out of ears before entering classroom.

  5. Unwritten Rules • Students shall remain in their seats at all times, unless otherwise noted. • Students are dismissed by the teacher, not the bell. • Respect everyone and everything in the classroom. • Use appropriate language with everyone. • No name calling or bullying • Vandalism will not be tolerated at all automatic referral to administration.

  6. Unwritten Rules • Do not touch my desk, computer, lab equipment, bulletin boards or projects without my permission. • No Selling of ANYTHING IN THE CLASSROOM!!! • Yes food and bottles are allowed no opened cans or candy! It will be thrown away. • Behavior in cafeteria • Each action is a choice and there are positive and negative consequences for each choice.

  7. Consequences No warning ( This is your warning) 1st time: F in conduct for the day 2nd time: Repeated violation will lead to Parent Notification and detention 3rd time: Referral to Administration/ Sat. School

  8. Classroom Procedures Come into class quietly. Drop off homework in appropriate period bin Take out all class materials Begin Daily Science Journal and/or Activity Not the time to finish copying a friends homework if I see it automatic F for both students.

  9. Student Center • Keep this area neat and tidy. • If you use something please put it back in its labeled place.

  10. Leaving the Classroom Students are not allowed to leave the classroom except for an emergency. “ I left my hw in cafeteria…in my last period.” Can I go print it in the library. No students in the hall !! Please let me know if you have any special medical needs or prone to conditions.

  11. Tardies • Each unexcused Tardy is an F in conduct for the day. • After 3 tardies Detention & call parent • Tardy means BODY not inside the classroom when the bell rings.

  12. Making up Work • When students miss class, it is the responsibility of the student to check the agenda as well as the homework calendar online to see what assignment was missed. • 2. Make-up work is due no later than two class period days after returning to school. • 3. 2nd period only!!! If you are late to school I will give you the make up work but your grade will be an F.

  13. Homework • No late Homework will be accepted. (I have 203 students.) • No Homework accepted via email. • If you have computer issues I need a note signed by parent/guardian with a phone number to be reached at.

  14. Tests/Quizzes • Make-ups Only before or afterschool. • Student has one week to make it up after that time it may not be made up and will be inputted as a Zero. • Let me know when you plan to come • Quizzes may be given at any time. They may be announced in advance or they may be a “pop” quiz. • Classes with discipline issues and/or tardiness may receive daily quizzes in order to focus students’ attention.

  15. Plagiarism • Plagiarism will not be tolerated under any circumstances. • If a student is caught plagiarizing, they will receive an F for that assignment and an F in conduct for the nine weeks. • They will receive a failure notice immediately for the F in conduct that will reflect as their conduct grade for the 9 week period. • This is a science department policy.

  16. MY NOTEBOOK • Students should follow the guidelines given about setting up their notebook for class. • Notebooks are worth 20% of the class work grade. • 4. Students will need their notebooks EVERYDAY! • 5. Notebooks should be maintained daily and should always be kept neat and in order. • Divided into 3 sections • Bellwork • Notes • Homework

  17. Materials • 1 ½ inch Notebook with pockets for worksheets • Looseleaf paper • Blue, Black & Red Pens • 3 Dividers for notebook (Bellwork, Notes, Homework) • 4 Dividers for Student Folder (Tests/Quizzes, Lab Reports/Gizmo’s, Projects, Classwork/homework)

  18. Checking my grade • Students should check their grades frequently by accessing the school’s online grade book. • If there are any discrepancies in your grade, you need to EMAIL the discrepancy to the teacher before approaching him/her during class. • It is the student’s responsibility to monitor the discrepancy situation until it is fully corrected!

  20. Textbooks No textbook should be left in any class. The classroom is not a locker. Students who lose their textbook or return it damaged will be responsible for payment.

  21. What Do I Do Next? When you finish your work early you may: • Read a book • Review class notes • Organize your binder • No socializing/texting/ipod etc

  22. Grading Scale In-class assignments / Home Learning & Participation= 15% Quizzes=20% Tests= 35%  Projects/Labs/Gizmo= 30% 

  23. Homework • Can be found online doralacademyprep.org homework page • Print out syllabus & get it signed • Print out and fill out student info form • Bring Tomorrow!!!!

  24. Lab Fee • $20.00 CASH or Money Order Only!!!
