Counselor Letter • Global view of the student • Senior Packet must be complete in order to make appointment with counselor to request letter • Reminder: UC and CSU campuses do not accept letters of recommendation Letters from private counselors will not be accepted

Financial Aid In a Nutshell • FAFSA filed in January 2015 • Student Aid Report (SAR) showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) • EFC forwarded to colleges who will then determine a financial aid package • Combination of grants, loans and work-study. • The EFC is the same regardless of the cost of the college, but the packages received from each college will vary
More Financial Aid • The College Scholarship Search Profile (CSS) is required by approximately 200 colleges and universities • File in October! • Families can get an estimate of their EFC at any time • FAFSA 4Caster at www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov
Scholarships • LBHSSF (Laguna Beach High School Scholarship Foundation) • Over 130 local scholarships • Start applying January 2015 • National Scholarship Search on Naviance • Partnership with Sallie Mae • Can complete a search for scholarships that match your criteria/qualifications
