HOW TO… Install Your Own Spoiler
MATERIALS Do it yourself!
STEP ONE • Always fit the spoiler on the vehicle before prepping or painting to make sure it fits. • Open deck lid and cover the carpet with a drop cloth so the hot metal shavings will not burn into the carpet. • Remove any trim panels with a panel puller or screw driver. • Partially close the deck lid.
STEP TWO • Place the T-strips into mounting holes and the brake light wire hole. (NOTE: only drill a brake light wire hole if your spoiler is equipped with a led light.) • Use a small piece of masking tape to hold them into place.
STEP THREE • Place spoiler on deck lid and align to proper position. Check for proper alignment using a tape measure side to side and front to back.
STEP FOUR • Carefully lift spoiler straight up off t-strips, leaving them on the deck lid. • Using masking tape, secure the t-strips to the deck lid.
STEP FIVE • Using the 1/8” drill bit, slide it through the small hole on the t-strip stem. • Mark the painted deck lid surface to locate the center of the holes to be drilled (FIGURE ONE). • Remove the t-strips from the deck lid and, using a unibit, drill through the 1/8” holes (FIGURE TWO). • Coat all bare metal with a rust preventative material and allow to dry. STEP SIX • Place spoiler upside down and apply the two foam gaskets over the holes on each side. • If your spoiler is equipped with led brake light, feed the brake light wire through the hole that was drilled for the brake light in the deck lid.
STEP SEVEN • Place the spoiler on the deck lid and secure it with the ¼” x 20 Phillips head screws and ¼” x ¾” washers provided.
