  4. Legal Deposit and the National Bibliography TDs are covered by the Legal Deposit Law: • for registration at PORBASE, the National Bibliography (dissemination) • for preservation (national heritage) Universities (dean offices) have to send one paper copy to the National Library

Requirements... • File formats: we can not afford to impose mandatory formats (PDF, MS-Word, Postscript, HTML, etc.)! • Access and preservation: ETDs at BN have to be: • organized as websites for storage in the BND access space (HTML home page with links to one or more files...). • “decomposed” and described in METS structures for storage in the BND preservation space. • Dissemination and Interoperability: • BN will provide OPAC, Z39.50 server, OAI-PMH server, RSS channels, etc. • BN as national interface for international initiatives (NDLTD, TEL, etc.)
