  2. SMART Has two basic meanings according to Webster’s Dictionary Intelligent Stingingly Painful

  3. START Has three meanings Beginning Jump Move

  4. God wants His children to have an intelligent beginning every day! …Not a painful beginning

  5. Jeremiah 29:11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

  6. Jeremiah 29:13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

  7. So where do you start?

  8. Proverbs 1:1The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

  9. 1 Kings 3:12Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

  10. 1 Kings 4:29-3029 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. 30 And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

  11. 1 Kings 4:32And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

  12. 1 Kings 4:34And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

What does God want for me? • To KNOW wisdom & instruction • To PERCEIVE the Word of understanding • To RECEIVE the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment & equity… Proverbs 1:2-32To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

  14. What does God want for me? GOD WANT’S TO GIVE… ...subtlety to the simple ...knowledge & discretion to the young Proverbs 1:4To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

  15. How can you know ifyou are being wise? • You will listen • You will increase in learning • You will seek and heed wise counsel Proverbs 1:5A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

  16. THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS THEBEGINNING OF KNOWLEDGE Proverbs 1:7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

  17. The best place to learn about the fear of the Lord is from Dad & Mom Proverbs 1:8-98 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

  18. Where do you NOT learn about the Fear of the Lord? FROM THE SINFUL Proverbs 1:10-1510 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. 11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

  19. Where do you NOT learn about the Fear of the Lord? FROM THE SINFUL Proverbs 1:10-1512 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: 13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

  20. Where do you NOT learn about the Fear of the Lord? FROM THE SINFUL Proverbs 1:10-1514 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: 15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

  21. You can hear wisdomif you will listen… Proverbs 1:20-2120 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: 21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

  22. How long willyou NOT listen? • The SIMPLE love simplicity • SCORNERS love scorning • FOOLS hate knowledge Proverbs 1:22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

  23. It’s time to turn! REPENT!Go The Other Way Proverbs 1:23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

  24. It’s your choice! Proverbs 1:24-2624 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

  25. How do I learnto Fear the Lord? • Receive God’s Word • Hide God’s CommandmentsInside You Proverbs 2:1My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

  26. How can I do that? • INCLINE your ears • APPLY your heart Proverbs 2:2-42 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

  27. How can I do that? • INCLINE your ears • APPLY your heart • CRY out for it • PRAY for it Proverbs 2:2-43 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

  28. How can I do that? • INCLINE your ears • APPLY your heart • CRY out for it • PRAY for it • SEEK it • SEARCH for it Proverbs 2:2-44 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

GOD PROMISES… ...you shall understand the fear of the Lord …you shall find the knowledge of God …you will be given wisdom Proverbs 1:5-65 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

  30. GOD WILL BE… …your sound wisdom …your safety Proverbs 2:7He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

  31. GOD WILL BE… …your sound wisdom …your safety …your keeper …your preserver Proverbs 2:8He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

  32. YOU WILL… …understand what’s right …have good judgment …know what is fair …have direction Proverbs 2:9Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

  33. YOU WILL… …understand what’s right …have good judgment …know what is fair …have direction …have peace Proverbs 2:10When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

  34. YOU WILL… …have discretion …have understanding Proverbs 2:11Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

  35. YOU WILL… …have discretion …have understanding …get deliverance Proverbs 2:12To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

  36. YOU WILL… …have discretion …have understanding …get deliverance Proverbs 2:16To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

  37. YOU WILL… …have discretion …have understanding …get deliverance …walk with good men Proverbs 2:20That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

  38. YOU WILL… …have discretion …have understanding …get deliverance …walk with good men …experience God’s favor Proverbs 2:21For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
