This project explores the discrepancies in image quality resulting from different processing methods within the Multimedia Module. It addresses issues such as the insufficient support for grainy formats like CMYK and JPEG 2000, and incorrect mapping of EXIF metadata. We also analyze the impact of scaling and compression routines on the visual output. Further challenges include unresponsive resolution tabs, preview delays with high-resolution images, and cluttered dialogue boxes. The goal is to streamline image handling while expanding compatibility with various multimedia formats, including video and text.

Project Opal Multimedia Module
Image quality • Difference in quality between image processing of pre-load image derivatives to the auto generate derivatives in the Multimedia Module. • Appears to be different scaling and compression routines.
Formats / Types not supported • CMYK • 16 bit • JPEG 2000 • EXIF metadata
Incorrect mapping to current MM fields • Resolutions tab • Compression displays JPEG colour mode tag instead of the compression setting • Characteristics tab • Does not read or reflect the resolution of the image, ie tiff or jpeg
Whose window? • Cannot expand the dialogue box to see the complete file name. • Preview on default - long wait for high resolution images before they can be selected. Will always default to preview on even after user has turned it off.
Workaround for high resolution images • Tucked in via second add function on resolutions tab • Do not want these on the top of the table • Reports call upon these images • Tuck-in function appends the NMA file name with a duplication of the name
