Walton Family Foundation Conservation Grant Update • Primary Grant Proposal Criteria • Projects that restore bottomland hardwood habitat on private lands • and/or reduce landowner impediments to accessing Farm Bill programs • in high priority geographies within the MAV http://lmvjv.org/wff_conservation_grant.mht

Summer 2010>Steering committee receives six project proposals totaling $1.5M in requests >Three are referred to WFF for funding Walton Family Foundation Conservation Grant Update FY2011 Conservation Grant Program Fall 2010>WFF agrees to second year of grant funding >Committing $1.25M Winter 2011>Ranking Team is formed to revise ranking process and review proposals Spring 2011 >Request for Proposals closed March 30 Spring 2010>Six grant proposals totaling $1.63M are received and rank by the committee >Five of six are recommended to WFF for funding

Walton Family Foundation GrantWetland Restoration in the Boeuf River Watershed Boeuf River Watershed, AR HUC- 0805001 Overview: • Submitted in conjunction w/MRBI (WREP) • $110K WFF Grant Request • $7.6MM project match over 4 year MRBI • Targeting 4000 acre BHW restoration on private lands • Plus targeted outreach to landowners through workshops and print media Restoration of BHW – Boeuf River Watershed, AR • Primary Partners: • AR Game & Fish (lead) • USDA NRCS • The Nature Conservancy • USFWS • Audubon Arkansas • AR Forestry Commission

Walton Family Foundation GrantIncentivizing Permanent Protection of Federal Restoration Overview: • Targets CRP acres in capped Counties within JV priority areas (AR CO, AR; Cohoma Co, MS & Tensas Parish, LA) • Covers easement establishment cost • $218K+ WFF Grant Request • $820K projected leveraged match • plus $150K NAWCA • Estimated 320+ acres permanently protected • Primary Partner: • Ducks Unlimited Incentivizing Permanent Protection

Walton Family Foundation GrantRestoring BHW & Corridores Connecting Bear Habitat Overview: • Restores BHW forests & corridors for LA Black Bear in JV priority areas • $100/Acre incentivization to private landowners for WRP • $472K WFF Grant Request • Potential NRCS match = $4.2MM • Projects restoration of 1,500 to 2,250 acres • Primary Partners: • Black Bear Cons Comm (lead) • USDA NRCS • USFWS Restoring BHW Forests & Corridors – Black Bear

Walton Family Foundation GrantRestoring BHW in the MS River Batture Overview: • Targets 164K acres of Ag lands not currently enrolled in USDA programs • Will incentivize landowners with $50 to $100/acre addition USDA program payments including WRP, CRP & WPP, plus permanent easement focus • $300K WFF Grant Request • $1.7 MM projected match • Targets 3000 acres of restoration • Primary Partners: • Miss River Trust (lead) • Lower Miss Rvr Cons Comm • USDA NRCS • USDA FSA Restoring BHW in the Active Floodplain (Batture of AR, MS, LA)

Walton Family Foundation GrantMississippi Delta CREP Overview: • Proposed two phase project targeting the development of 1rst Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program in Mississippi • $88.7K WFF Grant Request – for Phase 1 completion of EA & other administrative requirements; $85K Match • Creates customized package of CRP practices w/landowner incentives for 15+yr agreement • $418K Phase 2 grant, projected 4000 acre restoration; up to $2.2MM match • Primary Partners: • MS TNC (Lead) • MS DEQ • USDA FSA • Delta Wildlife • MDWFP Mississippi Delta CREP
