This research explores the effects of quark-quark double scattering on quark and anti-quark fragmentation functions in high-energy nuclear interactions. It highlights how double scattering modifies fragmentation functions differently for quarks and anti-quarks, impacting the multiplicity ratios of hadrons in colliding nuclei. Findings suggest that these differences can provide insights into observed phenomena in nuclear physics, such as jet quenching at RHIC. The study is a collaborative effort between Texas A&M University and Central China Normal University.

Summary • Quark-quark double scattering is eA DIS are studied. • Modification to quark FF in nuclei is different from the modification to anti-quark FF in nuclei. • This difference may explain the multiplicity ratios of hadrons in nuclei observed at HERMES.
Summary (II) • Quark-quark double scattering can modify fragmentation functions without radiation. • Quark-quark double scattering may change the flavor of partons: quark energy lossVS gluon energy loss • In heavy-ion collisions quark-quark double scattering can not be neglected if quark density is comparable to gluon density in hot nuclear medium.
