  5. Intended for a variety of uses: • Financial and transportation security • Residential and commercial building access • Military and government security

  6. There is an initial fee to put the chip in and then a $9.95 monthly subscription fee. • A glass chip is implanted, containing a unique verification number.

  7. On 10/12/2004, the FDA approved VeriChip in the US. • This approval allows VeriChip to be used to: • Confirm identity • Check blood type • Check any potential allergies

  8. How it works • Using an external scanner, radio frequency energy passes through the skin which energizes Verichip. • Verichip then emits a radio frequency signal transmitting the ID number and a variety of other data contained in the chip. • The scanner will display the ID number, but all of the data can also be transmitted via telephone or internet.
