  1. Where is home? Home is where you hang your hat.

  2. The Navajo lived in hogans. When a person died in a hogan, they made a hole in the back so the person’s spirit could escape.

  3. People of the Great Plains made teepees. Made of buffalo hides and lodge poles, these homes were easy to set up and take down quickly.

  4. Iroquois Nation The Iroquois nation was made up of 6 tribes who lived in the same area. They were the Mohawk, Seneca, Oneida, Cayuga, Onandaga, and Tuscarora tribes. Several families lived in one longhouse.

  5. The Cliff Dwellers Cliff dwellers are people who make their homes in shallow natural caves in cliffs or under cliff overhangs. These shallow caves in the recessed cliffs served as natural shelters from the wind and rain; in addition, caves facing east or south were warmed by the morning sun and cooled in the evening.
