  4. Jigsaw Reading • You will receive a card with a topic on it. • Find others who have the same topic • Form a group. • Read the section in Chapter 4 which contains your topic. • Work together to summarize the main points of the section

  5. Remix • After summarizing your section, do the following: • Form a group with people who have a different topic. • For example: Each group will have a person with a different card. • After forming new groups, everyone summarizes their section and answers any questions • After everyone has talked about their section, the whole group should work together to answer the True false questions.

  6. Sentence Summaries • Work in Pairs to write a sentence of no more than 14 words that summarizes what you’ve learned about evaluation, grading, and backwash. • Post them on the papers around the room!

  7. Discussion • Reflect on how you write tests? How often do you test your students? Do you have to give a test to assess? Are your questions open ended or close ended? Which types of questions are more helpful to your students language development?

  8. Wrap Up Chapter 4 • Journal Reflection: Give us your definition of assessment. How do you evaluate your students before, during, and after lessons? How do you normally know if students learned what you taught? What do you do if you think they haven’t learned the material?

  9. Global warming • Watch the video • Think about the pictures and refelct on the state ment at the end of the video. • Read the top tips with the gaps. Try to use the words provided to fill in the gaps. • Transform the sentences into the future perfect and continuos to explain how the world will be helping prevent climate change. • Share with others/How did we evaluate you?

  10. Future Perfect Video • Watch the video and think about these two questions: • In what ways does this lesson help students speak? • How would you get the students to practice this lesson? • How would you evaluate if the students learned the lesson or not?

  11. Homework • Don Snow Chapter 12- Teaching Culture • Portfolio task 6 • Chapter 4: Backwash – Analyze the English section of a “Vestibular” or PAS (Brasília) test Or • Chapter 4: Write instructions for a learning activity Or • Chapter 12: Reflect on the English you teach in class. Do you expose your students to different World Englishes?
