  1. God is Powerful

  2. God has infinite power!

  3. Throughout Scripture, we learn that our God is highly powerful. • “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth” (Ps 33:6). • “Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness” (Ps 150:2). • “Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies” (Is 1:24). • “Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible”(Matt 19:26). • “He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt” (Mk 14:36).

  4. Throughout Scripture, we learn that our God is highly powerful. • When Mary wondered how she could bear a child, the angel Gabriel told her, “With God nothing shall be impossible” (Lk 1:37). • “I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth” (Rev 19:6).

  5. God Has Demonstrated Great Power

  6. God demonstrated power at Creation. • “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Gen 1:1). • “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Heb 11:3).

  7. God demonstrated great power by rescuing His people. • Moses & the children of Israel at the Red Sea. • David. • From animals: 1 Sam 17:34-37a. • He used a sling shot and one stone to slay Goliath. • Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king” (Dan 3:17).

  8. God still uses great power to rescue His people! • “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Cor10:13). • God will rescue us from temptation!

  9. God used great power in the Resurrection of Jesus. • Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead” (Rom 1:4). • Eph1:19-20.

  10. God demonstrated great power when He judged His people. • Korah (Num 16:31-33). • Achan (Josh 7:4-5; 11-12). • Dogs ate Jezebel for all her evil (2 Ki 9:33-37). • One day God will judge the world. • All the dead will stand before Him (Rev 20:12-13). • Everyone whose name is not written in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire through God’s great power (Rev 20:15).

  11. God Will Use His Power

  12. Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform” (Rom 4:20-21).

  13. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end” (Eph 3:20-21).

  14. God will use His power to change our bodies. • “Our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself” (Phil 3:20-21). • Our bodies are going to have to be changed. • Our bodies are going to fail us. • Our physical bodies cannot have eternal life. • “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption” (1 Cor 15:50). • Therefore, God will use His power to change our bodies.

  15. Our God is a powerful God. • “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Heb 10:31). • If God is not so powerful, why would it be fearful to fall into His hands? • However, God also has the power to forgive mankind. • “The Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins” (Matt 9:6).
